Saint Gobain Weber Park Stakes under consideration for Librisa Breeze

Librisa Breeze could take another rise in class for the seven-furlong G2 Saint Gobain Weber Park Stakes (3.10pm) at Doncaster on the final day of the Ladbrokes St Leger Festival, Ladbrokes St Leger Day, Saturday, September 10.

The four-year-old has made up into a classy performer since joining Dean Ivory at the end of last season. He scored on his seasonal return at Wolverhampton in April and came close to landing a massive gamble when finding only Portage too strong in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot.

An impressive victory in a valuable seven-furlong handicap at Ascot on July 23 set him up for a tilt at the G3 City Of York Stakes on August 19, when he was given too much to do after an awkward start and finished fourth behind Nemoralia (Jeremy Noseda).

Ivory said today: “Librisa Breeze has come out of York really well. I am not completely sure what we are doing with him yet as he does want a bit of cut in the ground. There is the race at Doncaster and there is also another race for him at Ascot the following month.

“We gave him too much to do at York, sadly. He was not the fastest out the stalls but we should have stayed where we were instead of cutting over a little bit.
“In those Group races the more professional horses jump and run and there was more pace on that we anticipated, which left us with too much ground to make up.

“It all just went a bit wrong, but if you look at how much ground he made up it, it was actually a very good run and proved what a talented horse he is.”

Librisa Breeze was among 31 confirmations for the Saint Gobain Weber Park Stakes last week. Other eye-catching names include Dutch Connection (Charlie Hills) and Richard Pankhurst (John Gosden), both G2 winners over seven furlongs this season, plus G1 July Cup runner-up Suedois (David O’Meara) and Breeders’ Cup hero Hit It A Bomb (Aidan O’Brien).

There is a £9,000 supplementary entry stage on Monday, September 5.
